Post-event follow-up

Turn event conversations into contacts, connections, and timely outreach.

Overview

Events fail when follow-up slips. Toolblocks ties shortlists, connections, contacts, and tasks so you can work the list in the first 48–72 hours while context is fresh.

Use the Connections tab on any workspace event to open the post-event contact report: roster, follow-up status, batch scheduling, and optional share links for your team.

Steps

After the event, open the event in Workspace events and select the Connections tab (or use Open report from the dashboard Recent events panel).

If your roster is empty, Toolblocks can seed connections from the event shortlist, tracked speakers, and relationship captures taken at the event. Review the roster and add anyone you met manually.

Filter by follow-up status (None, Due soon, Overdue, Scheduled, Completed) and select rows to Schedule follow-up or Draft outreach with post-event context.

For each person, confirm or create a contact, add their LinkedIn URL on the contact record if you have it.

Set connection strength and a follow-up reminder with a note referencing the conversation.

Create workspace tasks for principals (deck send, intro request, lunch scheduling).

If the firm is strategic, link people to an account and log activity on the account timeline.

Share a read-only snapshot with your team (Org only, Public stats, or Public full with PII) from the report share dialog when marketing and BD need the same view.

Follow-up status buckets

StatusMeaning
NoneNo follow-up date on the contact record
Due soonFollow-up within the next three days
ScheduledFollow-up later than three days out
OverdueFollow-up date has passed
CompletedOutreach logged after the event ended

Quality bar

  • Reference something specific from the conversation, generic “great meeting you” blasts hurt trust
  • Batch similar follow-ups, but personalize the first line
  • Defer heavy research until you confirm the pursuit is real
  • Prefer Public stats when sharing outside the org; Public full includes contact PII

Marketing and BD can share one shortlist and one connections report; use notes on each connection so handoffs are visible.
